A section of students in these universities engages in certain activities that their parents might not be aware of.

Here are some of the things some Eldoret-based students do without the knowledge of their parents.

1. Come we stay relationships

Some students rent houses near the campus where they get to move in with their partners. Students living with their boyfriends or girlfriends share responsibilities such as paying rent and buying food. Since the majority of them don't have incomes, they depend on the money their parents send them for upkeep.

2. Dodging classes

Some students miss classes to attend parties and social functions including locally organised outings.

For instance, it is not uncommon to find a section of Moi University students having fun in Eldoret town on Fridays instead of attending their lectures.

3. Dating lecturers

A section of female students in universities in Eldoret is known to date their lecturers in exchange of favours such as monetary rewards or being awarded examination marks. Some students date their lecturers simply because they want to be taken to expensive hotels and entertainment joints.

4. Taking alcohol 

A large number of campus students in Eldoret indulge in alcohol. Some begin taking alcohol the moment they join campus either due to peer pressure or curiosity and excitement. Some even smoke bhang, despite the substance being illegal in the country. Campus students are known to frequent clubs in Eldoret town especially during the weekend.
