ACK's Kapsabet Diocese of Nandi Bishop Paul Korir has warned politicians against politicizing the Building Bridges Initiative(BBI) report.
He says they should first let Kenyans read and understand the report before giving their input.
“As religious leaders, we are not happy with how politicians have politicized the report. Please let us give Kenyans time even if its five years to read the document before starting to say whether the report should be taken to parliament or referendum,” he said.
Bishop Korir who spoke to the press in Eldoret town on Friday said the current debate on the document is not good for the country and is likely to raise political temperatures.
“Let the political temperatures be regulated since it’s not life and death. If the discussions going on in the country will not stop, the country might be divided based on their political and tribal affiliations,” added Bishop Korir.
He, however, said the report should be subjected to the County Forums for them to know Kenyans views if they want the report to go to a referendum or be passed through parliament.
He called to be agents of peace and should not allow the BBI document to divide Kenyans for their selfish reasons for leading the country through dividing and rule policy.
