Speaking to journalists after Governor Sonko had appeared before the anti-graft agency, Babu Owino urged the government to desist from frustrating Sonko.

Mr Owino claimed that Sonko could not perform his duties efficiently as the governor of Narobi County due to the summons that he was receiving.

"Work cannot be done if our governor is being frustrated. Something else that I would like to tell the government is that; they should stop frustrating the governor of Nairobi. This is the governor that people woke up in the morning and elected."

The MP further criticized the police officers citing that they used excessive force while dispersing supporters of Governor Sonko who had converged outside the Integrity Center.

He claimed that two ladies had been admitted at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) following the confrontation between the supporters and police officers.

"The police in this nation, we just call it a service, but it is still a force from that time. Today you saw the force that was meted on the people of Nairobi. People have been brutally injured. Some are in the hospital, two of the ladies are in ICU as we speak," Babu Owino stated.

Sonko on Tuesday appeared before the EACC for interrogation over the allegations that he excluded some of the details including court cases from the self-declaration form while he was vying for the gubernatorial seat in Nairobi county.
