Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General Edwin Sifuna has taken a swipe at Jubilee Party Kibra candidate McDonald Mariga, poking holes in his candidature.
Speaking on Wednesday, Sifuna whose party has fronted Imran Okoth for the race, termed Mariga the wrong man for the job, on grounds that he knows nothing about Kibra.
He stated that Kibra residents should not fall in the trap of electing Mariga, claiming that he himself never wanted the position but was forced by some top Jubilee leaders.
He added that Mariga is completely unaware of what he is doing in the political arena, and cannot even express himself, which is nothing near what Kibra residents deserve.
"This is someone who known nothing about Kibra, he us not from there, I believe even this candidature has been forced on Mariga himself. He doesn't know what he is doing," he said.
He made the remarks on KTN on Wednesday night, where he further accused the former football star of selfishness, as he once portrayed when he was the Harambee Stars player.
He recalled one incident where the former Parma midfielder refused to come over to oaly for Harambee Stars on grounds that he was not provided with a first class ticket.
"I remember one time he refused to play for the country because we could not afford to buy him first class ticket and I said what nonsense is this? You have to have some selflessness especially when playing for a national team," he added.
Mariga has promised to establish technical institutes, avail international scholarships for students and provide houses for residents if elected in the November 7 poll.
