Serving his second term, Governor Nyagarama has often come under immense pressure from a section of residents who accuse him of embezzlement of funds and maladministration.

Despite frequent complaints, the county boss has never been arrested by investigating authorities, something that often causes uproar in the county.

By now, the governor, despite progress in health and roads department, has never completed any mega project. The Manga stadium which had over Sh100 million allocated, is far from completion.

Senate PAIC on Thursday cleared Nyagarama, arguing that most of the expenditures of the government had little anomalies compared to other counties.

"Infact, compared to previous years, Nyamira has done well. The Auditor General has not raised any questions. This is one of the best performing government," Moses Kajwang said.

The Senate noted that only Nyamira has always used IFMIS during payment unlike other counties. Also, clearing of pending bills was lauded by the Senators.

Nyagarama asked senators to set time for a trip to South Nyanza county to inspect a number of ongoing projects within the county.

"We are ensuring that the little we get goes to development. I urge the Senate to consider at times going around so that it can get in touch with reality."

The Governor was accompanied by Chief Officer in Finance Mr Edward Ondigi and Finance Minister Mr Peter Muga.
