Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo has faulted leaders opposed to the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) over attempts to hold a parallel rally in Mumias during the weekend.
Speaking during an interview on NTV on Tuesday, Amollo said that the leaders are insincere to Kenyans.
He retorted that it is evident that the anti-BBI brigade lacks an agenda and only plans to counter the allies of President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga.
"Whenever you try to hold alternative meetings on the same issue there's likely to be a clash. It was just not wise to hold an alternative BBI meeting in Mumias," he said.
A section of leaders from Western Kenya led by Dr Boni Khalwale were dispersed by a contingent of heavily armed GSU officers in their effort to hold a meeting at Nabongo grounds in Mumias.
Amollo also dismissed claims that the BBI popularisation tours across the country are geared towards the 2022 presidential race.
He challenged those making such claims to join them saying that Raila and Uhuru are out to unite the country.
"If anyone thinks the BBI meetings are about 2022 elections why don't they come and join?" he said.
