The vocal MP made the remarks on Thursday morning during Emoo FM's 'Mwaa en Emoo' show where he noted that Raila wanted to meet the DP through him.

"Raila approached me to connect him with DP Ruto over the handshake but I first asked him the basis of his handshake and thereafter they talked with DP Ruto but they could not agree on some things. (Kinyorwon Raila kolenjon atuyo inendet ak DP Ruto asikong'alal agobo kotuyetabgee nebo handshake ,ak kituyo iman lakini maimuch kotestai ndamu maikuyogee)," said Oscar Sudi.

The vocal MP, a close ally of DP Ruto also insisted that the ongoing corruption purge is targeted at DP Ruto.

After the March 2018 handshake between Raila and President Uhuru Kenyatta, Ruto said the former Prime Minister had approached him four times before reaching out to Uhuru.

"Before Raila Odinga engaged President Uhuru Kenyatta on the handshake, he engaged me. Raila Odinga approached me on four occasions to have a discussion and I declined to engage him for two reasons,” said Ruto in a past interview on Citizen TV.

The second in command claimed Raila's approach was not genuine, the reason he declined to engage him, a decision the President was informed.

"In Jubilee we have one central command. Uhuru Kenyatta is the party leader and president and we all refer to him. If there is any engagement with anybody on matters politics it has to start with President Kenyatta," Ruto noted.

The handshake has since seen the establishment of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) tasked to provide solutions to various issues the country has been battling with over the years.
