Mwilu was arrested at the Supreme Court and whisked to DCI headquarters for questioning.

It is reported by Daily Nation that her arrest came after a series of meetings between the Judicial Service Commission and the Director of Public Prosecution Noordin Haji.

Haji is said to have called for a press conference minutes after the DCJ's arrest.

Her arrest is in connection to huge transactions she made in the collapsed Imperial Bank and failure to pay taxes.

Kenya Revenue Authority first reported Mwilu to the DPP for moving huge sums of money from her bank accounts.

She now faces charges of abuse of office, stealing and failure to pay tax as required by the law.
