On Friday morning, staff who had reported to their offices converged in an isolated corner within the assembly precincts while chanting protest slogans ridiculing Speaker Ibrahim Abass.

"We are honorable members not your kids. We deserve better treatment, not intimidation," one of the organisers of the demonstration said on condition of anonymity for fear of victimisation.

Addressing the media on Thursday outside the county offices, a section of the county staff disclosed that the speaker has not provided leadership

Mr Abullahi Olow, the staff union chairperson, revealed that a number of them have severally fallen victims of the speaker's physical assaults.

"The County Speaker has severally assaulted our members. It is in the public domain that he has also been abusing and even referring us as goons inside the chambers" claimed Abdullahi.

The speaker has angered some MCAs who are now threatening to initiate an impeachment motion in the house.
