Actually, the nation recorded the incident as the first suicide bombing attack within her borders on Tuesday last week when an Al Shabaab militant of Kenyan origin blew himself up at the DusitD2 Hotel in Nairobi.

Mahir Khalid Riziki who is said to have his roots in Majengo Estate Mombasa opened the way for four other terrorists to take over the hotel for the next few hours, killing and hurting.

The suicide bombing has since thrown Kenyan forces back to the drawing board as it seeks to establish whether Al Shabaab has more of such people.

Multi-agency teams are now busy trying to establish whether the Somali-based terror group has a suicide bomber cell targeting the country or Mahir's was a unique case.

“We don’t know if there are any others remaining and what their next mission is,” a security official told the Tuesday Standard.

According to reports, teams have been dispatched to Kisumu, Mombasa, Mandera, Isiolo and Moyale to investigate the same.

The Tuesday attack which has been heavily condemned left 21 dead, many others injured but was a few hours later neutralized by commandos from the elite Recce Squad.

The anti-terror unit and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has since embarked on a campaign to smoke out other criminal elements who might have lent a hand in the attack.
