Mr Natembeya, who stirred controversy over the Mau Forest evictions, delivered a moving speech from his Narok office Saturday after his transfer.

He thanked the president for trusting him with the job and promised to do his best in the delivery of his duties.

Natembeya also expressed his gratitude to the people of Narok County for the cooperation that they had given him in his job as county commissioner.

"I would like to confirm that I have been given a transfer from Narok to Rift Valley to be a regional commissioner. I would like to thank my bosses for for giving me this new assignment. I would be in charge of 14 counties in Rift Valley.

Unlike in Narok where he was in charge of a mere county, in Rift Valley, he will be in charge of a number of counties.

Natembeya called on the residents of Narok  County to accord the incoming county commissioner all the support he or she requires to smoothly dispense his duties.
