The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Nordin Haji has sent an urgent message to the court regarding the deadly 2015 Garissa University attack.
In a social media message, the DPP wants the Nairobi court handling the case to immediately place the suspects on defence prior to the determination and subsequent ruling that is expected to be delivered on 19 December 2018.
The Director of Public Prosecutions, Noordin Haji, has urged a Nairobi Court to place on defence five Garissa University College terror suspects charged with several counts of terrorism and related offences. Cc @DCI_Kenya#CounterTerrorism_ODPP," tweeted ODPP.
In a separate tweet, the Prosecutor disclosed that it had proved a prima facie case against all the accused, meaning all the suspects have strong charges to answer.
"The DPP, through written submissions, submitted that the Prosecution had proved a prima facie case against all the accused. Milimani Chief Magistrate, Hon Francis Andayi is expected to deliver his ruling on 19/12/18 cc @DCI_Kenya #CounterTerrorism_ODPP," added the DPP.
The Garissa University attack is one of the deadliest terror incidents to have happened in the Kenyan history, where at least 148 people including students and tutors perished.
It is now expected that the ruling set to be delivered in two weeks time will bring justice to all the victims and their families.
