Former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has expressed his disappointed over the government's commitment in the fight against corruption, insisting that the level of corruption has escalated to the new level.

Recently, President Uhuru Kenyatta yet again scolded people in government believed to be corrupt, insisting that the ongoing graft purge will not spare even his closest political allies.

In a video making rounds in social media forums, Kabogo, who is heard code mixing in English and Kikuyu dialects, is heard questioning Uhuru's commitment in fight against graft.

"I am shocked with the level of corruption in the country. Scandal and scandal yet nothing big comes out. The government must own this monster. If anyone meets Uhuru, remind him he's in charge," he says.

He adds: "You cannot continue sparing people yet you have a legacy to leave behind. If Ruto has stolen, arrest him. Stop giving us unnecessary excuses. We are tired with the level of theft."

Mr Kabogo, who lost to Ferdinand Waititu, is also heard questioning the role electorates played in 2017 elections, adding that theft of resources in Kiambu County has also escalated.

Mr Kabogo has been lately commenting on national matters and he has often volunteered to be in a committee that can be constituted to solely fight corruption.

Dr Ruto has been linked to various scandals among them Sh21 billion Kimwarer and Arror dams construction where DCI George Kinoti claims that the money was paid without any tangible work on the ground.

The DP has however come out guns blazing, accusing the DCI of allegedly being used by the state to thwart his 2022 chances. He has vowed to hit back.
