A team of technicians from the Kenya Electricity Transmission Company Ltd. (KETRACO) has finally visited Garissa County and pledged to compensate community members in an ongoing exercise to construct a 220KV Garsen~Hola~Bura~Garissa power line.

In the Friday meeting chaired by the Garissa County Secretary Abdi Sheikh at the governor's boardroom, the KETRACO technical team led by its board chair Eng. James Rege said they had unanimously agreed to compensate the affected members of the community in a bid to boost mutual coexistence. 

"Together we have agreed to compensate all affected individuals. We shall work with the county government to ensure everyone gets a fair share in our compensation program," said Eng. Rege.

Also present during the meeting were the CEC ICT Hon Habiba Nasib Jelle, CEC Environment and Energy Habon Aden, Chief Officer for Lands Abdille Hassan, THE County Attorney Ismail Aden, Director lands Abdirahman Shalle, KPLC representatives among other officials.

KETRACO has already done the 143KV Kindaruma-Mwingi-Garissa transmission line and associated substations thereby replacing diesel generators.

They are currently constructing the 220KV Garsen~Hola~Bura~Garissa line and is planned to be completed by the year 2020.
