Elected leaders in Kisii County on Saturday snubbed Samuel Ragira alias OCS Ragira burial which was held at Kerera village in Nyaribari Chache to attend a fund drive which was being presided over by Deputy President William Ruto.
Ragira was shot dead in Nairobi by goons suspected to be Mungiki. No elected Member of Parliament from Kisii attended the burial which was attended by thousands of mourners.
A section of mourners slammed the leaders led by Nyaribari Chache MP Richard Tong'i, Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi, Nyaribari Masaba MP Ezekiel Machogu for snubbing the burial.
"It is shameful that MP Tong'i was busy welcoming his 'master' at Gusii Stadium forgetting that there was a burial he could have first attended in his own constituency. 2022 we will teach him a lesson because it is not Ruto who voted for him," said Julius Obwocha.
Another angry mourner Ronald Nyandusi wondered the leaders could snub the burial.
"It is shocking that no elected MP attended Ragira's burial. The leaders instead prioritized attending Ruto's event instead of attending the burial of the comrade who was forced to die by goons," he said.
Richard Maranga said all elected leaders were selfish.
"Kisii residents elected MPs who have put their stomachs first. They had to attend Ruto's event so that they can fill their stomach," he noted.
