This comes barely a week after the house dissolved all committees and agreed to head back to the polls to bring to power new house leaders.

But according to the Standard, the sitting in which the agreement was made also had a separate agenda, this being to channel more money into their pockets.

The meeting came following a series of in-house wrangles over leaderships which forced opposition leader Raila Odinga to intervene.

Rallying the house to support the changes days after Raila's meeting, Majority Leader Kenneth Onyango drummed up support for the changes, terming them the only way to 'end persistent wrangles' in the assembly.

But the new revelation indicates that the members are also seeking to earn more from their sittings, this being in terms of sitting allowances.

To realize their push, they claimed that the existing committees were not properly constituted, accusing Speaker Onyango Oloo of bias.

Some of the house leaders had reportedly placed themselves in up to 19 committees to earn more in allowances.
