Kisumu Governor Anyang' Nyong'o jetted back in the county on Wednesday morning after his official trip in Sante Fe, USA.
The governor was received by his Deputy Dr. Mathews Ochieng Owili and other county officials.
Shortly after arriving back in county, Nyong'o met Israel Ambassador to Kenya Noah Gendler.
Their discussions centered on possible areas of partnership between the Israeli government, and the 14 member counties within the Lake Region Economic Bloc (LREB).
Ambassador Noah Gendler said that the Israeli government offers capacity building opportunities to individuals in different fields.
“With a properly drafted memorandum of understanding (MOU) the Israeli government will be offering trainings in Israel to various individuals proposed by member counties within the LREB. Target areas include agriculture, fisheries, water, tourism, ICT and Industrialization,” said the ambassador.
Professor Nyong’o returned to the country at a time when the May 2018 Controller of budget report on County government’s budget implementation review for the first nine months of Financial Year 2017/2018, indicated that Nyong’o and his officers in the county spent more on foreign travel compared to former governor Jack Ranguma’s last financial year in office (2016/2017).
On Tuesday, Kisumu County Chief Executive Committee Member (CEC) in charge of Tourism and Sports Ms Achie Alai Ojany termed as silly journalist’s questions on how the numerous foreign trips by the governor are helping the people of Kisumu County.
