Unlike his younger brother and opposition leader Raila Odinga, East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) lawmaker Oburu Oginga has not been very lucky in his political endeavors.

The former Bondo lawmaker is currently a Kenyan representative at the Arusha Tanzania-based East African Legislative Assembly (EALA).

This is after he lost out in his bid to recapture his seat in the 2017 polls.

However, the first born son to founding Vice President Jaramogi Oginga Odinga also has his strengths.

One of these is the fact that he remains Raila's senior back at home and is the chair of family issues, basing on his age.

Also, he had a rather weird quality, a great knowledge of the Kikuyu language, the language spoken by the people who forced his father out of his Deputy Head of State slot in 1966.

In an interview with the Nation on October 20, 2006, Oburu proved sane when he received a call in the middle of the interview and went ahead to engage the caller in an impeccable Kikuyu conversation.

Oburu, despite his age and bigger experience in matter politics as compared to Raila, has remained unable to defeat his brother.

He has ended up remaining in the former Prime Minister's shadow and almost fully dependent on him politically.

Let it not be forgotten that he was the first one to follow in the footsteps of their father when he was elected the Kisumu Stadium Ward representative seat, then the Kisumu East Civic seat, in 1974.

Raila, two years younger, had to wait until 1992 to be elected Langata constituency lawmaker.
