With the advent of social media, many politicians are embracing its use to reach many 'potential votes' just in a click.
Deputy President William Ruto has not been left behind on matters socialisation. A close check on the DP's Twitter page shows that he has a massive following of 2 million followers. Ironically, he follows only 73 individuals.
It can be revealed that the DP follows only 3 city politicians, one sitting MP and Governor.
1. Ken Okoth
He is the only MP from Nairobi county being followed by DP Ruto. Hon Okoth is the incumbent Kibra parliamentarian serving his second term. He represents the biggest slum residential area in Africa. DP Ruto possibly followed him because he represents one of the vote-rich suburbs in the city.
He is the incumbent Nairobi county governor, serving his first term. He previously served as the city's Senator before outwitting Evans Kidero in the 2017 gubernatorial race. Basically, DP Ruto might have followed Mike Sonko because he represents the country's most strategic county both politically and economically.
He is the incumbent Langata MP serving his first term. He is also the only serving MP in Nairobi county from the Kalenjin community, the DP's tribe. Ruto might have followed this legislator to help him network better with the city residents.
