A Chinese national, Liu Jiaqi caused a storm on social media Wednesday with his racist remark against Kenyans and President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Jiaqi boldly referred to Kenyans and the President as “monkeys” who are “smelly and poor” in a video that was secretly recorded by one of his employees.
Apparently, the Chinese man was running a motorcycle shop in Ruiru, Kiambu County under Sonlink Company Limited, blogger Abraham Kimutai has disclosed.
Jiaqi strongly voiced his dislike for Kenyans in the minute-long clip. However, he insisted that he continues operating his business in Kenya which he dislikes because "money is important."
Kenya's Immigration Department in a statement said the man was arrested on Wednesday and that his work permit has been canceled. The department added that he will be deported on grounds of racism.
Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko and Embakasi East MP Paul Ongili alias Babu Owino are among leaders who condemned Jiaqi's racial slur against Kenyans and President Uhuru.
Sonko in a Facebook post on Wednesday asked Kenyans to share the whereabouts of the Chinese national for his arrest.

Kenyans have also expressed their anger with the racial slur by Jiaqi, some condemning the government for borrowing excessively from China to fund several high-flying infrastructural projects in the country.
