Are you looking for a fantastic movie that both you and your partner can enjoy this Valentine's? Worry no more.
A Kenyan-produced romantic comedy, Plan B, should be your next thing this Valentine's.
The brains behind the star-studded romantic comedy is none other than Nigerian filmmaker Omolola Adeleke (LowlaDee).
LowlaDee produced the movie in 2018 after her decision to move to Kenya.
Together with Sarah Hassan’s Alfajiri Productions and social change film project, the movie that now has impressive reviews by Kenyans was born.
The movie is centred on the aftermath of what was just to be a one night stand.
Sarah Hassan who is a character in the movie by the name Lisa finds out that she is knocked up, the consequences of a no-more one night stand with a man who turns out to be a successful Nigerian CEO.
Catherine Kamau alias Enter Joyce helps Lisa who is her best friend to hatch a plan to get the father of the baby to support his child.
The coming together of these two renowned Kenyan actresses – Hassan and Kamau – gives the movie a touch of success and perfection, something that LowlaDee acknowledges.
“These two (Hassan and Kate) are genuinely two of the best actresses in Kenya and they are so professional; they gave this movie their all,” LowlaDee says.
“They had great chemistry on screen. It’s very refreshing to see central actresses not competing with each other but working together towards a common goal. I felt like that was one of the most beautiful things in the film,” adds the Nigerian filmmaker.
Plan B, in essence, is the ultimate movie that has a perfect love story which leaves its audience with an utmost feeling of awe.
“This movie isn’t that deep; it’s a simple love story and more of a feeling – something for people to escape to, to like an hour or so,” says LowlaDee.
LowlaDee in Plan B which its trailer is fairing on very well in the movie scenes has yet again stamped her love for Kenya.
In “This is It” – an award-winning series featuring Kenya’s Nick Mutuma and Nigerian Chy Nwakanma – LowlaDee has won herself a fan base in the countryKenya’s culture where “baby mama” talk is openly discussed amazed her inspiring Plan B storyline, something which is only talked about in hushed tones back in Nigeria.
“I couldn’t believe just how normal the idea of being a baby mama is here. People talk about it openly, and I have friends who are baby mamas. Nigeria is a bit more conservative when it comes to this issue. It was a trend that was very new to me, I decided to explore it.”
The movie will premiere on YouTube on Feb 14 2019, and will also premiere on Showmax in March.
On her decision to have the movie on Showmax, she says “The future is digital, and I feel like Showmax gets it when it comes to content in Africa.”
