Wiper Democratic Movement (WDM) Party has dismissed claims that Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana has resigned as the party’s chairman.
Speaking to Citizen Digital on Friday, Wiper Secretary General (SG) Judy Sijeny said the party is not aware of Kibwana’s resignation.
Sijeny said Kibwana has not handed his resignation as he claims.
“We have not received any formal communication showing that Professor Kibwana has resigned,” Sijeny told Citizen Digital.
The Wiper Secretary General accused Kibwana of dishonesty.
She rubbished Kibwana’s’ claims that he is being fought within the party.
She dismissed claims that party decisions are being made without involving the governor.
A section of Wiper politicians has been piling pressure on Kibwana to resign.
The politicians accuse the governor of allegedly frustrating Kalonzo Musyoka's 2022 presidential bid.
Kibwana has, however, denied frustrating Kalonzo, stating that he cannot be forced to support the former Vice President’s 2022 presidential bid.
On Thursday, Kibwana asked Kalonzo to remove him as Wiper chairman, stating that he cannot continue to stay in an 'abusive marriage'.
The Makueni governor accused Kalonzo of using Wiper junior politicians to fight him politically and stall the county's development agenda.
