Huruma MCA Peter Chomba now wants Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago to sack county askaris over increased accusations of harassment and torture from residents.
Chomba has also claimed that the county askaris have been turned into a militia group whereby they beat, steal and terrorize wananchi for no reason.
Speaking at the Uasin Gishu County Assembly on Wednesday, the MCA said: “I want to call upon governor Mandago to relieve these askaris their duties and employ competent ones since under their hands some residents have lost their lives while others are nursing serious injuries."
He further lamented that despite the affected persons reporting their cases to police stations, no actions have been taken.
“The enforcement officers are untrained and political goons. If they will not be looked into, they will turn into a militia group,” Chomba noted.
He also hit out at the local leaders for staying mum while residents are being terrorized giving an example of Maili Tisa where a resident was allegedly beaten and his legs broken by the county askaris.
The MCA called for action to be taken so as to ensure the resident gets justice.
