Deputy President William Ruto has hailed the Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers (Kuppet), for the role it has played in Kenya's education sector.
In a tweet on Saturday, the DP said teachers play a significant role in nation building, and lauded the teachers' union for championing the interests and rights of teachers in the country.
"Teachers play a significant role in nation building; they are facilitators, mentors, learning resources, and innovators. The government applauds the Kenya Union of Post-Primary Teachers (KUPPET) for advancing the rights of teachers in the country," the DP said
The DP made the remarks after gracing an empowerment programme for Bomet county's Kuppet members at the Bomet Green Stadium.
DP Ruto on Saturday visited the South Rift region and launched a number of development projects.
In Kericho, he reacted to the speech that President Uhuru Kenyatta gave on Friday at the Sagana State Lodge, graced by political leaders from the Mount Kenya region.
The DP said the Head of State gave the proper guidance and direction, adding that outsiders should not interfere with affairs of the Jubilee Party.
