Machakos County Governor Alfred Mutua has reiterated that he will not support Deputy President William Ruto’s presidential ambitions in 2022.
The Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader said 2022 will be his turn to become the next president.
“I have never made any agreement with DP Ruto that I will support him for the presidency. I supported President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2013 and 2017 and that doesn’t mean I will support Ruto in 2022. Ruto should instead consider supporting me since I supported his boss,” he said.
Mutua said he has all it takes to be the next president.
“I have worked for the people of Machakos since 2013 and my work record has placed me at a better position to vie for the presidency in 2022. From now until 2022 I will develop Machakos to be a city where everyone will be willing to live. I urge Kenyans to vote for me as the next president in 2022 general election,” he added.
According to Mutua, nothing is going to bar him from vying for the country’s top post.
Mutua was speaking during a radio interview at Iqra Fm on Tuesday morning.
