In a function held at Hills Centre on Monday, the institute revealed that the branch will serve at least five counties in the northern frontier.

Speaking during the official opening ceremony, Garissa county CecC for Finance and Economic Planning, Roble  Nunow expressed optimism that the presence of ICPAK in the county will promote accountability in the region.

"Today we are launching ICPAK Garissa branch. I have no doubt this will translate to improved accountability in our counties," Roble stated.

Roble launched the centre on behalf of Governor Ali Korane who was out on other official functions.

Also speaking during the launch, ICPAK chairperson Julius Mwata commended the county for recording improved accountability in the last fiscal year.

"The launch of this ICPAK centre today is timely. I sincerely wish to commend the county leadership for ensuring accountability in the use of public funds in the previous financial year. It is my hope that the presence of this centre in Garissa will not only improve accountability but also promote public awareness in the management of public monies," Mwata stated.

The Garissa branch now becomes the first ever ICPAK branch to be launched in the entire North Eastern region.
