Former Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama is a politician who is not new to controversies.
Muthama was recently caught up in marriage controversy with his estranged wife Agnes Kavindu.
Kavindu in the run-up to the 2017 general election, came out claiming that she was still Muthama's wife.
She said they were still staying in the same house in Machakos County contrary to the former senator's claims.
Kavindu, however, alleged that Muthama was mistreating and assaulting her.
The former senator denied the allegations stating that he divorced Kavindu in 1983.
In a media briefing on May 18, 2017, in Machakos town, Muthama shocked Kenyans when he referred to his estranged wife as "mwanamke mkora."
A fuming Muthama claimed that Kavindu was being used by his political enemies to taint his image and character.
"Kavindu is not my wife, we divorced in 1983 in court, "huyu ni mwanamke mkora," Muthama said.
Muthama has maintained that he is not living with Kavindu as she claims.
Kavindu unsuccessfully contested for the Machakos Woman Representative seat on a Jubilee Party ticket in 2017.
