Menengai ward MCA Wilson Mwangi alias 'Wa Jeff' has warned those operating illegal dens of illicit brew in the area that they will soon face the law and be brought to book
In an exclusive interview, the MCA noted that some individuals are operating illicit brew premises in the area and even going ahead to sell to school children.
He added that this has resulted in a negative impact on the performance in schools and that as an elected leader he will not tolerate the same under his watch.
The Legislator promised to work closely with law enforcers and the community in arresting the people in charge of these dens to ensure no more illicit brew in the area.
“We have agreed to ensure that all the clubs operating illegally in this area are shut down so that we can save the society and even our school children,” said MCA Mwangi.
According to the MCA, a crackdown has been carried out in the area and that bars and clubs that were found operating illegally have been shut.
“I will not be intimidated by anyone for fighting the illicit brew in this area. It cannot be that every now and then a wines and spirits premise is opened. No! We have to save our society and that is why we are saying they will no longer operate in our estates,” he said.
Alcoholism has been a major challenge in Menengai ward.
