One person died Sunday morning after a grisly accident that involved Murang’a executive member for Water Paul Macharia.
The accident happened along the Kenol-Murang’a road near Maragua.
Murang’a County police Commander Josphat Kinyua confirmed the incident.
Murang’a County Government, on its statement, said the minister was driving himself when he lost control of the vehicle and veered off.
A passenger he was carrying died on the spot.
Macharia was injured and rushed to Murang’a Level Five Hospital for treatment.
John Karanja, who was at the scene of the accident, said Macharia hit a tree from the passenger's side after losing control of the vehicle.
"He came from the road and hit a tree. The impact saw one person from the passenger's side killed on the spot. It seems he was overspeeding," Karanja said.
The minister was driving a county government car during the incident.
