A last-minute meeting between Governor John Nyagarama and Nyamira County Assembly on Thursday rescued him from impending impeachment.
With health workers on strike over unpaid salaries and general go slow in the county, Speaker Moffat Teya on Wednesday distanced himself from the crisis adding that executive was to be blamed.
"The assembly passed budget estimates in June in line with the law. How the salaries are unpaid remains a matter the executive should explain," he wrote.
A section of MCAs led by Bogichora's George Abuga had already drafted an impeachment motion over alleged incompetence.
But a meeting at Governor's residence that lasted for three hours resolved that Nyagarama assent the Sh6.5 billion budget besides forming a committee of 10 to look at controversial issues.
"The speaker, MCAs and the governor have held a meeting. The budget will be signed on Friday. There will be a committee of ten to look unto the issues," said the source.
The executive was reluctant to assent the bill due to increased budget of the assembly by 5 per cent contrary to the Finance Act of 2012.
On Friday, Nyagarama held a meeting with all County Executives where the ongoing crisis was discussed broadly.
