The first Mashujaa Day in Kisii County under the newly renovated Gusii Stadium was crowned in style on Saturday afternoon where Gusii Starlets FC hosted Bulemia Starlets FC on FKF Women Division one league football match.

The banana ladies who played before Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi who presided over the event on behalf of Governor James Ongwae never let down the crowd. 

Gusii startles picked Maximum Points by beating Bulemia FC 3-2 defending their number two title with 18 points below Nyuki FC which is number one with 22 Points.

Speaking to this writer after the match, Gusii starlets FC coach Laitred Oyori thanked the ladies and fans, saying they are aiming at the premier league which he is confident they will reach.

"First i thank God for this big win. I'm very much impressed with my team for winning today's home game. All we wanted was today's win because we lost the first league to this team,"

"I'm sure  we will do it again. To our fans i promise  you that our target  is playing at the premier league. Thanks a lot to all those who supported us on today's game," said Oyori.

Mercy Odhiambo opened the Gusii Starlets FC goal in the 14th minute, Sarah Khakali scored in the 29th minute and Maria Andesiab’s extra-ordinary goal gave them a healthy advantage in the 32min.

The flower girls are now waiting to face Bomet and Nyuki FC.
