Many people have argued that if the government provides good roads, electricity and Other infrastructure, youths will be able to employ themselves but that is not always the case.

The idea of asking about somebody's working experience has been used widely in Kenya during interviews by the government, companies and NGOs.

When a company or firm publishes a job vacancy stating that an individual should have a two-year working experience, it keeps newly graduated individuals from applying for the job because they lack the experience.

This not only denies them the chance of getting their dream job but also denies them the opportunity to gain experience in their field of specialisation.

I once attended an interview as a sales agent for a certain company, it happened that one of us had a recommendation letter from a certain company he claimed to have worked for.

The guy got the job only for the company to realise later that the said company did not exist and the guy lacked the convincing language to communicate with clients.

The government and private sector should not consider experience as the requirements for a job or else we will lose or fresh blood of skilled youths to frustrations, alcoholism and drug abuse.
