Nyeri Town Member of Parliament Ngunjiri Wambugu has weighed in on Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria’s arrest.
In a Facebook post on Friday, Wambugu said that he will not be surprised to hear TangaTanga leaders linking the arrest to Kuria ‘s support for Deputy President William Ruto’s presidential bid.
He reminded the leaders that Kuria has been arrested for assaulting a woman and nothing to do with Ruto's presidential dream,
He argued that Ruto allies have specialised in spreading propaganda to divert the attention of Kenyans from the real issues on the ground.
“Tangatanga propaganda loading. Hon Moses Kuria has been arrested because he is alleged to have assaulted a lady. But don’t be surprised if TangaTanga start saying he’s been arrested because he supports Ruto for President in 2022,” he posted on Facebook.
Kuria was arrested on Friday for allegedly assaulting a woman, who was later identified as Joyce Wanja.
Wanja said that the lawmaker resorted to assaulting her at the Royal Media Services premises after he asked him not to make negative remarks against women during a fundraiser.
"I told him he was talking about matters which were irrelevant to the event at hand and more so, inappropriate for children and faithful," she said. The lawmaker has been taken to the Kilimani Police Station for grilling over the issue.
