Machakos Deputy governor Eng Francis Maliti has promised Maruti and Tuk Tuk operators that their problems will be solved.
In a post on his Facebook page after a meeting with the operators on Thursday in Machakos town, Maliti said that the county government is committed to seeing the operators' working conditions improved.
"This is a major sector in the transport industry and their effort to ferry wananchi from one place to another is quite commendable. As a county government we are committed to ensure that their working environment and conditions are ample and favourable," he said in part of the Facebook post.
"I have promised these operators that their problems especially the issue of stages will be solved immediately and soon they will be operating from their designated bays," he added
Maliti further noted the operators' efforts to form a Sacco will steer them to greater heights.
He, however, urged them to exercise work ethics and follow rules to avoid unnecessary conflicts with the law enforcers as they go on with their daily operations.
