A man previously reported as the key suspect in the murder of Faith Wangui, a Nakuru woman, has been confirmed dead.
According to K24, Nakuru police commander Steven Matu confirmed that the suspect Joseph Muchiri found dead in Mau Narok in Njoro on Tuesday, days after he was reported to be the main suspect in the murder of Wangui.
Police say the suspect committed suicide by hanging himself and the body was taken to Nakuru Municipal mortuary.
Confirming the incident, Njoro Sub-County police commander Mohammed Huka told K24 that the police identified the body and confirmed it is the suspect's body.
A deformed body of Wangui was found dumped in a bush near Menengai crater in Kiamaina ward, Bahati on Saturday.
The mother of two was reported missing about 9 pm on November 10, in Nakuru town moments after allegedly meeting with her estranged husband.
The family first sounded the alarm after she did not return home prompting the police to investigate into the matter.
“She did not return home. At 7pm, she called and told me that she was planning to meet someone in the central business district. Later, my family members were informed that she had been spotted in the company of Muchiri in a nightclub in Nakuru Town. The two reportedly left the entertainment joint at 9:30pm. That was the last time she was seen in public. Our attempts to reach her on phone were fruitless as her cellphone line remained offline,” said Joseph Mwangi, the deceased brother in an interview with K24.
Wangui was a waitress in Muranga and had come to Nakuru to visit her mother together with her children.
