Speaking at the Kipevu Oil Terminal, Port of Mombasa when he presided over the flagging off ceremony of the first Kenyan crude oil shipment, Uhuru said that corruption will soon be a thing of the past.

Uhuru also said that he does not issue orders to Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) as the fight against runaway graft intensifies.

The commander in chief of the armed forces asked Kenyans to back his war against graft. He affirmed that he will not take it lying low if he notices any case of graft in the government.

“I have not sent anyone. You are the one who was found doing your things. These people are not playing and laughing. The phones you used to call for assistance have been switched off, he said. (Mimi sijatuma mtu…ni wewe umepatikana ukifanya mambo yako; hawa watu hawachezi na hawacheki…hizo simu mlikuwa mnapiga kitambo msaidiwe zimezimwa).”

The remarks comes after a section of Deputy President William Ruto’s allies alleged that the second in command is being targeted in the war against graft.

Uhuru has, however, maintained that he will defend the resources meant for the public through crackdowns using multi-agencies. The President has affirmed that he will leave behind a legacy upon retirement.
