It will also be used to create sensitization on matters GBV.
The sensitization is aimed at eliminating the GBV cases within Nakuru West sub county, Nakuru county and the county at large.
Speaking during the launch, Trocaire Country Director Eithne Brenan called for a collective responsibility in eliminating cases of gender based violence in society.
According to Ms Brenan, the newly launched Child Protection and Gender Unit at Kaptembwa Police station in Nakuru West should help reduce GBV cases in Nakuru and county at large.
“The reason for the cases of GBV is because people are not treating each properly. It begins with how we treat one another. But we hope with the new Unit the case will reduce as society will be sensitized,” she said.
Similar sentiments were echoed by Ms Caroline Ng’ang’a who is in charge of Women Empowerment at Trocaire Kenya.
“We have matters of women and girls at heart and when we saw what they were going through we decided to establish this Unit. We will continue to partner with other like-minded organizations to see to it that we eliminate GBV cases for a productive society” she said.
Nakuru Town West Deputy County Commissioner Elmi Shafie who graced the event also sounded a stern warning to perpetrators of GBV in Nakuru West that their days are numbered.
