Duale has said that Kuria will be removed from all House committees that he serves in by the virtue of being a Jubilee legislator to serve as a punishment to Kuria for publicly rebelling against the party that sponsored him to Parliament.

Kuria is the vice chairperson of the Transport Committee as well as a member of the National Assembly Budget Committee. As you would expect, the controversial MP is unmoved and has dared Duale to make good his threat.

"Bring it on! I serve in the committees at the pleasure of the party. If the party decides that my services in the committees are no longer required, I will oblige," Kuria said on his Facebook page.

But why is Kuria unbowed by Duale's veiled threats? Here is why.

1.His removal from the said committees will only help him to play victim of political persecution

If the Jubilee party ejects Kuria from the committees, we are likely to see him in coming days going round arguing that he is being targeted for his an unapologetic stand on an array of issues.

The result will be political sympathy especially from his backyard which will undoubtedly elevate his political profile.

2. Kuria knows that he can only be more relevant

Kuria is likely to be back in the limelight in the coming days after his removal. This can only serve to increase his political relevance.

And as Robert Greene notes in his book '48 Laws of Power', no publicity is bad, good or otherwise.

3. Will cement his narrative as the 'true' defender of his political constituency

There are those who call the MP 'Njamba ya Ruriri' (Hero of the Tribe).

If he is removed from the committees for apparently 'defending' his people, he can only use this move to his political advantage.

Yes, he will make lemonade from the lemons while Duale and his ilk will likely be seen as defenders of the elite that include President Uhuru Kenyatta.
