The bottom most color green denotes the color of our vegetative land and finally the white strips that run across symbolize the peace and unity of our Kenyan people.
Its concept was borrowed from the Kenya African National Union (KANU) which was a political party that led to the fight for freedom.
The three horizontal lines; black, red and green are all of the same widths. None of them is longer or shorter than the other.
The Kenyan flag should be smartly raised and upon lowering, it should be done ceremoniously.
Whenever you see a flag hoisted halfway the flagpole, it denotes grief and mourning in the country. But before lowering it halfway, it has to be raised to the top, then lowered halfway.
