The MCAs have since ousted their initial Majority Leader Richard Ogindo and replaced him with Kanyadoto MCA Walter Muok.

The move, however, is contrary to the wishes of the Orange party leadership, which cautioned against Ogindo's ouster, with the row now creating a rift between the two sides.

Despite the party having postponed the initial election dated for September 6, some of the MCAs went ahead and conducted the election that saw Ogindo thrown out.

ODM Executive Director Oduor Ong'wen later wrote to the house seeking to quash the election, before a similar letter came from party Secretary General Edwin Sifuna.

Sifuna summoned the members who took part in the election to appear before the party disciplinary committee.

The MCAs went ahead to defy Sifuna's letter, further fuelling the row, and they now maintain that the changes will remain as they are.

“We received the letters via WhatsApp. Let it be clear that the changes we made remain as we made them,” Rusinga ward representative Okuku Miregi is quoted by the Standard
