Kisii Central Police OCPD Francis Nguli confirmed the arrest of the suspect identified as Soteri.

"The suspect escaped after he killed his colleague over a female student's love who is taking a P1 course at the institution where they were working, but, our officers nabbed him while he was boarding a vehicle on his way to Trans Mara," said Nguli.

The OCPD said upon questioning the suspect, he said he killed the suspect after he thought he was a thief who had trespassed into the institution's compound.

"No one can take his lies serious that he killed the deceased after he thought he was a thief. We are waiting for the female student to give her side of the story," said the OCPD.

He assured that the suspect will be arraigned in court today, Wednesday to be charged over the murder.

Nguli warned men against chasing female students for love in the exchange of money.

The police boss added that the institution has been instructed to change the security team.
