Kabogo said Raila is an important person who should never be underrated in the country’s politics.

The former county boss said Raila enjoys a massive following and thus cannot be underestimated.

“You cannot underrate a man who has a support base of over five million people,” he said.

Kabogo who spoke on Citizen TV’s Jeff Koinange Live (JKL) show on Wednesday said that Raila should take the credit for the peace and calm the country is experiencing now.

He said that the March 9 handshake between the former Prime Minister and President Uhuru Kenyatta rescued the country from destruction.

The Kiambu politician further noted that the people who used to use Uhuru and Raila’s names for political mileage in rallies are now suffering because they have no one to attack.

He said he fully supports the March 9 handshake, arguing that it will heal the country and reconcile Kenyans, and allow us to move forward together.

Kabogo lost re-election in the 2017 polls but has remained vocal on national issues.

The former governor has since declared interest in the 2022 presidential election.

"I may not run as Kabogo but as a group of like-minded individuals who mean well for this country. I may go for the presidency or be someone's running mate," he said.
