President Uhuru Kenyatta asked Kenyans to 'get back to work', adding that all assailants had been killed, 16 hours after the horrendous attack that caught the country in shock.

ODM treasurer Timothy Bosire said the swift response from security forces showed that Kenya had come of age in terms of managing emergencies in crime scene area.

"The operation was quite different from what we saw in 2013 at Westgate Mall. Officers worked as a team and more people were saved. That was a fantastic job."

Similar comments were echoed by Borabu MP Ben Momanyi, who told the reporter that the show of solidarity from Kenyans is a manifestation of unity that has grown since 2017.

"We have moved out of election memories. We are indomitable and nobody can bring us down. Even civilians were actively involved. It's a rare thing in this nation," Mr Momanyi said.

In his address, President Uhuru Kenyatta also confirmed that at least 14 people died in the attack, which came exactly three years after horrendous attack on a Kenyan military camp in El Adde, Somalia.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i said the operation will enter phase two in which the DCI George Kinoti will commence investigations towards the attack.
