Matiang’i maintained that no foreigner will be allowed to work in the country without a valid work permit.

“The Interior ministry will not allow foreigners to process for work permits while they are in the country. The permits must be processed from their respective countries before they come to work here,” he stated.

Matiang’i called on Immigration officers not to engage in corruption and help foreigners acquire work permits using the back door.

“Any immigration official who will be caught using the back door to help foreigners acquire work permits will be sacked, arrested and be prosecuted.

"Foreigners who will make a mistake to stay and work in the country illegally will be deported,” he stated.

He added that the government is committed to ensure illegal migrants moving into the country are taken back to their countries since they pose a security threat.

Matiang’i was speaking on Friday during a meeting with county commissioners and regional security coordinators in Nairobi.
