Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi has once again heaped pressure on President Uhuru Kenyatta to weaponize his war against graft.
The former vice president has been in the front line in pushing Uhuru to make true his threats in dealing with his corrupt government officials.
Speaking during a fundraiser at Sirembe Secondary School in Siaya, on Saturday, Mudavadi said that Uhuru now risks never realizing his dream of a graft-free nation because of his empty threats.
“If the President does not take action between now and the end of the year, we will have lost the war against corruption,” he was quoted by the Standard.
Mudavadi also called upon the government to tame its appetite for debt, which he said is victimizing the taxpayer who is having to carry the entire burden on his shoulders.
He urged finance officials to stop misadvising the President on matters loans, failure to which Kenyans will be subjected to more financial hardships and big debts.
Mudavadi also wants the government to conduct an audit on the IFMIS payment system, claiming that it is being used to loot public coffers.
He as well lauded the church for its involvement in the war against corruption, by challenging the president to get serious on fighting the battle.
“I am so proud of the Catholic bishops for telling Uhuru to stop talking too much and take action. The other time the Anglican Church also made a decision and spoke,” he added.
Uhuru has repeatedly warned that no one will be spared if found to have involved themselves in graft, a position also held by opposition leader Raila Odinga.
