This is after area Member of Parliament (MP) Mark Nyamita launched an initiative to build iron roofed houses for them.

Uriri Constituency Coordinator Mr William Mbeche said that the initiative which started early this year has already seen ten widows benefit by being built new houses.

Speaking in Nyamasare village on Tuesday, Mbeche said that the Uriri MP promised to initiate the project during campaigns ahead of last year’s general elections.

“This is an initiative by the area MP Mark Nyamita to ensure that all the widows in the area live in decent houses. The work has just started,” he said.

Ms Miriam Akinyi who is one of the widows who have already been built ironed roofed houses said that the initiative has enabled her to own a decent home.

“My grass thatched house was brought down by strong winds during recent heavy rains. I now have a decent house and a proper place to call home,” said the 52-year-old widow.

She thanked the area MP for the initiative, and urged other MPS in Migori County to take up emulate Nyamita and implement in it in their constituencies for benefit of all widows.
