Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has declared his interest for the top seat.
Speaking on Saturday at Kawangware, Sonko said he will go for a 'big seat' in future.
"I want you to help me run Nairobi so that when we go for a big seat no one will say that we were unable to run Nairobi," Sonko said.
He told his supporters that after 2022, they will be seeking the 'big seat'.
"I don't want to say we will seek the big seat in 2022 because they will kill me. But after that, I will be running for it," the flamboyant politician said amid cheers.
The governor has been a vocal supporter of Deputy President William Ruto.
He once claimed there is a group of schemers meeting at night to strategize for Ruto's downfall.
Ruto has already started quiet campaigns for his 2022 bid.
