Police in Kisumu are investigating an incident where a woman and her children died on Monday, after the lady allegedly setting her house ablaze.
The 26-year-old lady allegedly died after discovering that her husband had plans to marry a second wife.
Following the news, the lady locked herself and her took kids aged 6 and 3 respectively, after which she set the house ablaze.
“Preliminary investigations indicate that the woman’s action was as a result of a domestic disagreement,” said Central Kisumu location Chief Simon Osege Orwa as quoted by Citizen.
Reports from neighbors indicate that the lady was seen with a jerrycan full of petrol shortly before the incident.
"She was carrying the petrol but at that time I didn't quite tell what was in the jerrycan. She then called her two children to the house and locked it from the inside," said the neighbor as quoted by Nation.
According to Orwa, the deceased’s husband was away in Eldoret at the time of the act.
