Police nabbed two suspected drug traffickers in Bamburi, Mombasa on Thursday.
The two suspects, 24-year-old Abubakar Yahya and 34-year-old Ruweida Fara were arrested with one million in cash and heroin.
"TWO suspected Drug Traffickers were today morning arrested at Bamburi, Mombasa by @DCI_Kenya Anti Narcotics Detectives following the recovery of several Packets of suspected #Heroin & over Ksh. 1 Million in cash from their House. Both placed in custody and investigations ongoing," DCI tweeted.
DCI revealed that the two were arrested at Ruweida Fara's house where the illegal drugs were recovered.
"A search conducted in the residence of the main suspect; 34-year-old Bwanahamad Fara led to the recovery of the said suspected substance & cash believed to be proceeds of the illegal business. The second suspect Abubakar Yahya (24yrs) was also found in the house and arrested," Director of Criminal Investigation added.
Coast regional DCI boss Washington Njiru said the suspects will appear in court on Friday.
"We are processing some documents so that we can arraign them and seek to hold them for more days to complete investigation," Njiru told Njiru said.
Drug addiction has been a perennial problem at the Coast especially among young people both at home and in learning institutions.
