Speaking during a tour of Taita Taveta county to address land issues on Thursday, Chief Administrative Secretary in the Ministry of Lands and Physical Planning Gideon Mung’aro said the current regime has good plans, not only for the people of the Coast region but also the entire nation.

Mung’aro said the issue of squatters has been a thorn in the flesh of past regimes, but this time around, Uhuru has put in place different measures to ensure the same ends.

He revealed that the government has plans to issue more than 100,000 title deeds to squatters across the country before the end of the year in a bid to provide them with places they can call home.

He claimed the issue of petty politics has greatly hampered the government in the quest to ensure the number of landless persons in the country is as minimal as possible.

Mung'aro divulged that some of the stalled schemes do not need a lot of money to be completed, adding that the government in place will ensure justice for all.

“We are reviving more settlement schemes and adjudication areas to ensure more locals are settled. Among the stalled squatter settlement schemes are Mwanainchi, Rong’ee Juu, Chawia-Wumari Sechu and Mgeno adjudication sections,” said Mung’aro as quoted by Standard.
